Anybody who has been on the Internet any time in the last... year and a bit... (or watched the Macy Parade, for that matter) knows what it means to be Rickrolled.

But have you ever been SACKROLLED? I doth profess, it is a far superior experience. You will be agog not only at the amusement factor, but also the CUTE factor. (It is a necessity for anybody who has ever played LittleBigPlanet, or seen an ad for it, etc.)

(sweet jesus, I can comment while the video plays)

i think i dont spend enough time on the internet 'cause a few months back andrew and i were in a second cup when a rick astley song came on and we started searching it out on youtube 'cause it sounded "exactly like another hit". anyway, it somehow lead to our realization that all rick astley songs sound gloriously similar and we became obsessed with the album so we started playing it EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME and people would die of laughter.

...we thought we were genuinely funny in our own right.

AWWWW. Well, laugh and the world laughs with you. I have done many stupid things, and said many stupid things, in my life that caused for people to laugh for reasons other than any I make have concocted. So you're golden.

I bet all his stuff DOES sound the same, but I only know this song (to my knowledge). What freaks me out the most is the disconnect between his face/appearance and his voice. For one, that voice is indescribable. For two, it is WEIRD to associate it with this strange man-boy-looking-person.

Of course, I know people who were duckrolled... which was the pre-rickrolling.

Maybe duckrolling was before my time.

Somebody put a lot of effort into this video (my gosh, I can only imagine) and I honestly find it VERY charming. :)

Duckrolling never quite broke out to the same level as rickrolling. Probably because it was just a picture of a duck on wheels, which isn't as amusing as Rick Astley.

And yes, the video is painfully cute. :)

That is disgustingly cute.
However, I think that, if I had not been watching [ profile] lucidite's Boy play whatever game it is that video was made using, I wouldn't have understood it at all. As it is, I still don't quite understand the whole phenomenon of "being Rickrolled" (or why it's so funny, or, really, anything about it)...

LittleBigPlanet: the game that should have been enormous, but only ended up huge. I think it serves as an object lesson in the laziness of game players.

Nobody knows why Rockrolling is funny. I'm not sure where it began, but I would be willing to bet it's SomethingAwful, Fark, 4chan, or the like. In short: nobody can turn down a way to stymie people, and nobody can get this damn song out of their head.

that is ridiculously cute. i think my absolute favourite is the muppet version, but these little creatures are quite fantastic.

I haven't seen the Muppet version! I will have to track it down.

I HAVE seen Bert & Ernie set to gangsta rap, though, and it was remarkably funny/adorable and well-done ( And I don't even like gangsta rap (though I should hope that much has been made obvious, obliquely, by now).
