"Albertans are the only group in the entire survey in which more respondents chose the theory of creationism over evolution."

Specifically, 37% of Albertans believe in evolution (compare with 63% in Québec), and 40% of Albertans believe in creationism (compare with 18% in Québec).

Fuck.
This.
Province.

Yeah, 18 cases! Third, after BC (29) and Nova Scotia (33!! How did they get THIRTY-THREE cases, they're so small!).

Albertans are also woefully unable to prevent shit infecting their livestock. Which is hilarious/awful, considering it's their #2 cash source.

I can't help it. The Jesus freaks are part of the reason why gay people in this province actually have to have dedicated safe spaces, like the QueerKnit folk I adore so much. Does a specifically gay knitting group exist in Montreal, or just knitting groups which happen to have gay members? I would be interested to know.

Also, the Jesus freaks vote blindly for the Conservatives. Because somehow, in all their cronyism, all their environmental destruction, all their slashing social spending, the Conservatives are Good Christians. Tending to the poor? The poor be damned! We care about CORPORATIONS!

More than one in six Quebeckers believe that some all-powerful, invisible, undetectable, omnipresent force created life, the universe and everything (Earth, every species ever, etc.) and that this is a more credible theory of our existence than creatures that have advantages in their environment being more likely to survive and pass on those advantages to future generations than those that don't. If my street of 37 houses mirrored the proportions of my province, then about 20 people on my one-block street would believe this nonsense.

So feel free feign (dis)belief in your province, but don't act like those in your former province are living in the (un)holy land.
